Idemili South Chairman describes children as assets of the nation, celebrates children day

After about four years of not celebrating the children day with school children at the various Local Government Area Secretariat at Anambra State due to fear of insecurity, it was a beehive of activities as Idemili South LGA joined their counterparts to mark the celebration thanks to Governor Chukwuma Soludo who has tamed the activities of unknown gunmen to its barest minimum.

Presenting her address before inspecting the school children’s matchpast at Ojoto, ISLGA Chairman, Hon Mrs Amaka Obi(Iyom Idemili) described children as the greatest assets of the nation urging parents and guardians to develop more interest towards investing in their children.

“The theme of this year’s Children’s Day Celebration Is ‘ Investing in our future means investing in our children’. As parents we should have it in mind that children are Paramount and all our actions should be geared towards the best interest of the child.

“Children are the greatest assets of any nation and the foundation on which the future of the nation is built. The investment any nation makes on children is an investment worthwhile,” said Mrs Obi.

Mrs Amaka Obi assured the children that government at all levels are willing to provide them with enabling environment for their development and survival tasking children not to fail to discharge their responsibilities to their parents, government and society at large.

“His Excellency, Prof Soludo( The Solution Governor) has invested greatly in the education sector for the benefits of our children in Anambra State. He recruited about 5000 more teachers and ensures teachers’ salaries are paid as at when due,” said Mrs Obi.

Highlights of the occasion include school children’s matchpast, cultural dances, calisthenics, award presentation to schools who performed well during the matchpast. Isu Primary School, Oba clinched first position for the Primary school section while for the Secondary School section, Seat of Wisdom, Nnobi came first as the only participant in the section.
