ICPC Arrests Ex-Naval Chief, NSCDC Deputy Commandant Over N3bn Fraud

The ICPC has arrested former Chief of Naval Staff, Usman Jibrin, and NSCDC Deputy Commandant, Adam Yusuf, for allegedly diverting N3 billion in public funds. Investigations revealed that Jibrin orchestrated the fraud using 92 fictitious companies, with Yusuf acting as a front to acquire luxury properties, including real estate in Dubai. A 2019 court order froze their assets, but it was overturned in 2022 due to insufficient evidence. The ICPC has appealed and successfully forfeited four properties to the government, with legal proceedings ongoing. Jibrin, who served as Nigeria’s 21st Chief of Naval Staff (2014–2015), has faced multiple corruption allegations, including a N600 million and N1.5 billion money laundering case. The ICPC is continuing efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the scheme.
