HURIDE Lauds HGI for Good Governance Campaign

The Human Right, Liberty & Access and Peace Defenders’ foundation (HURIDE), has commended the a Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Hope Givers Initiative , for their commitment to carry massive campaign to educate Nigerians especially from South East and South south Regions on how to monitor the budgets of their respective States to ensure optimal implementation.
The chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT) of HURIDE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor and the chief Media Officer Unah Zack Unah said in the statement made available to news men in abakaliki Ebonyi State that they particularly commended the Executive Director, Hope Givers Initiative , Dr. Onyeka Okey Udegbunam and Lady Endurance Udegbunam Monitoring and Evaluation officer respectively for their pragramatism and professionalism in commitment to educate ordinary Nigerians on how to monitor bugdets for effective implementation by States’ officials.
Dede Uzor said Hope Givers Initiative do this through organising of workshops , seminars and lectures for citizens, saying that this campaign has helped the citizens know how to monitor and checkmate frivolities,high incidences of corruption, diversion of public funds due to proper lack of budget implementation and transparency in governance of many states.
He said that Hope Givers Initiative as a grassroot mobiliser has helped to inject the skills of monitoring budgets by bringing highly qualified resource persons, professionals and lecturers in their workshops like the recent ones held in Owerri, Awka, Enugu, Abia, Umuahia and Abakiliki in which some
Right groups in the zones were participants.
They urged the CSO to organise such seminars and workshops for officials of State Governments in the zone like Commissioners, Special Advisers, SAs, Permanent Secretaries, Directors and all other such staff involved including Market leaders in the implementation of budgets in States.The group said this would enhance transparent implementation of budgetary provisions in their respective States , which in effect will result in good governance for overall benefits of the citizenry .
