Humanitarian Ministry takes 2,600 rural women out of poverty in Nasarawa

Over two thousand, six hundred (2,600) rural women across communities in Five local government areas of Nasarawa state,have been shortlisted to benefit from Federal Government Grant,in order to cushion the effect of hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move was also aimed at allievating them from poverty,as the minister assured of more of Federal Government intervention in the near future.

The Minster of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq represented by the Minister for State Science & Technology, Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi Wednesday flagged-off the Federal Government Cash Grant to the 2,600 Rural Women drawn from 5 LGAs in Nasarawa State i.e. Awe, Lafia, Wamba, Kokona and Nasarawa.

The grant, according to her was to enable rural women cushion the hardship occasioned by Covid-19 pandemics and alleviate them from extreme poverty.

Responding,the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe represented who represented his principal Governor, Engr.Abdullahi Sule, thanked Mr. President for the initiative and promised to complement Federal Government’s effort in empowering rural women.
