Callum Hudson-Odoi: Maurizio Sarri reveals when he discovered star’s talent

Maurizio Sarri has continued to be asked about Callum Hudson-Odoi, and yesterday he admitted he was intending to start the youngster in today’s game with Brighton.

Asked about why the 18 year old hadn’t played more minutes, Sarri decided to go on a lengthy discourse about how he had integrated the youngster into the squad all year.

He pointed out that he was the one who had decided to keep him rather than loan him out, and he noted that he had noticed Callum within a few days of the preseason.

He then says it’s been a slow process of developing him to be ready to join the first team – which will hopefully happen tonight.
