Housekeeper in court for allegedly drugging employer, theft

A housekeeper, Bose Joseph, who allegedly drugged her employer and stole property worth N2.6 million, on Wednesday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Joseph of no fixed address, is being tried before Magistrate Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, for alleged stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Joseph committed the offence on Jan. 12 at No. 65 Adisa Bashua St., Surulere, Lagos.

Ekhueorohan alleged that Joseph drugged her employer before she proceeded to steal her international passport, shoes, bags, clothes, a plasma television and cash.,

He said that the money and items valued at N2.6 million belonged to one Winifred Olayiwola, the complainant.

The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to Section 280 (1) (b) and 2 (a) (b) and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted Joseph bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case until April 8, for mention. (NAN)
