House toughens penalties for vote buying, electoral offences
The House of Representatives has amended the Electoral Act to impose minimum two-year jail terms or N5 million fines for vote buying and selling, along with a 10-year ban from elections.
Sanctions for presiding officers and multiple voter registration were also increased, and election funds must now be released to INEC one year before polls to improve planning.
