His season is over – Tuchel delivers worrying update on Chelsea’s top player
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has conceded “it looks like the season is over” for Ben Chilwell.
Chilwell underwent a knee operation to repair anterior cruciate ligament damage this week.
The 25-year-old suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in their 4-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge in November.
Chelsea are also facing late fitness tests on Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Timo Werner and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Tuchel has seen his squad stretched by illness and COVID-19 during a run of four wins in 10 games in all competitions.
“It is like squeezing the same lemon over and over again and we always expect fresh juice out of it,” he said.
“It is hard because we are so ambitious and it is hard for the team to take these results and stay positive. We know we can play better, everybody is fully aware.”
