High tension wire electrocutes Mother, child to death in Anambra

Tragedy struck Nnewi yesterday as a high tension wire killed a 55 year old woman and her 10 year old daughter in their shop located along St. Peter’s junction Okpuno Nnewichi in Nnewi North Local government area, Anambra state.

Odogwublog.com reliably gathered that the said victims who were later identified as Mrs. Patience Ugbana and Miss Adaeze Ugbana were busy in their shop when the said high tension wire fell on the shop and got them trapped and electrocuted in the process.

Confirming the incident, the PPRO Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed said: “at about 3:30pm, there was a report at Otolo Division that one Mrs Patience Ugbana ‘f’ aged 55 years and her daughter Miss Adaeze Ugbana ”f’ aged 10years were electrocuted in their shop along St Peter’s junction Okpuno Nnewichi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State when a high tension electric wire allegedly fell on victim’s shop.”.

He stated that the victims were rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi for treatment but both of them were confirmed dead by a medical Doctor on duty.

He added that the Corpses have been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy while Investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident please.
