Health: APLSCD Celebrates World Sickle Cell Day

It was a day of joy as All people living with sickle cell disorder celebrated world Sickle Cell Day in Anambra State, www.odogwublog.com reports.

The event which ought to take place on   June 19, 2023 was adjusted and celebrated on June 20, 2023 due to the insecurity in southeast region of the country.

The national coordinator, Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu, made sure that the seminar was tremendous and tended to use the seminar as a medium for disseminating educative information.

Many dignitaries were present at the seminar. HRH Igwe Innocent Elochukwu Obodoako, Ezedinobi Ezeani III (Igwe Agulu), Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna and lots more.

The kids expressed their selves in one way or the other. Benson Chibuike Benedict, a carrier, has pleaded with the investors and caregivers, that “they should always remember them”. He furthermore said that “the support which the caregivers render, helps to sustain their lives”.

Chima Goodness has pleaded to the ministry of women affairs that “they should visit them”. She furthermore said that “those use their home to contest for elections, should remember their promises “.

Chief Victor Okpoko, Senator Uche Ekwunife’s spokesperson, has urged the public “to endeavor to visit the home (sickle cell orphanage home)”. He furthermore comforted the kids by advising them “to remain strong and shouldn’t feel different”.

Honorable Azubuike Okoye has promised that “he must continue to promote the good work and contribution of the home”.

The kids acted a drama to remind the masses to always verify their genotypoe before getting married.
The national coordinator, Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu, has urged parents that “they should go through the genotype of their daughter’s suitor before accepting the marriage” because the ignorance of knowing the genotype, increases the rate of the sickness.
