A non-governmental organisation, called Zenith Environmental and Social Protection Network (ZESPRONET), has donated a 44-bed Post-Graduate hostel to the Abia State University, Uturu.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the project was inaugurated on Friday in Uturu by Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, during the university’s 27th and 28th combined convocation ceremony.Earlier, representatives of the NGO told newsmen ahead of the inauguration that the project cost N80 million and was executed within 21 months.

The group’s Spokesman, Mr Bidwell Okere, said the gesture was ZESPRONET’s own way of assisting its Alma Mater and giving back to the society.Okere said the group embarked on the project after consulting with the then Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uche Ikonne, and based on the institution’s needs assessment.According to him, the group applied to the university authorities to know the areas they required intervention.
