A humanitarian organization, Women Arise for Change Initiative, Anambra State, Sunday, commended the humanitarian and patriotic disposition of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, for risking her life to rush to Regina Ceali hospital, Awka, by 9pm, to pay bill for a six years old child who had a fracture and injuries due to brutality by the father, Mr. Nwobodo.

It will be recalled that little Chiagozie Nwobodo, from Ezinifite, Nnewi South Local Government Area, was brought to the hospital on emergency but doctors demanded deposit of #.3million before she could be taken to the theatre for surgery which her parents could not afford.

Through intervention of the governor’s wife, Nonye, by payment of the said deposit, she was attended to and operated upon by the doctors which in no small measure helped to save and secure the life of the helpless child.

In a press statement tagged, “You will only be remembered by your good works,” signed and issued to newsmen in Onitsha by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, chairman and Pastor Chinyere Amah, secretary of the organization respectively, the organization extolled Mrs Soludo for her humanitarian gesture.

According to the duo, Mrs Soludo had with this kind gesture emulated St.Mother Theresa of Calcutta that, “one has not lived unless he lives for others, in addition to postulation of John Holmes that “the only good motive in life is motive of doing good for one’s country and her citizens”.

“We equally appeal to political officials and public spirited individuals to emulate her selfless services and sacrifices. We are humbled and overwhelmed by her humility and patriotism in solving the pathetic problem of the helpless child unsolicited.

“We appeal to doctors to adhere to Hippocratic physicians oath to save life first. Government and security personnel should apprehend, detain and prosecute the father of the child over child abuse and brutality to act as deterrent to others.

“Parents, guardians and Nigerians should always secure, safeguard, protect and defend the rights and social welfare of helpless children,” Women Arise pleaded.
