Gov Umahi to establish two more universities

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, at the weekend disclosed that his administration will establish two more universities before the end of his tenure.


The proposed universities are Aeronautical Engineering and that of Technology in Ezza and Izzi local government areas of Ebonyi state.

Umahi made the disclosure at the internment of his Aunty, late Mrs. Theresa Umahi, at Umuchima in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the State.

He said King David University of Medical Sciences in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, would take off by September this year, 2021.

While the proposed Faculty of Engineering, Ebonyi State University, would assume the status of the Ebonyi State University of Technology which would be located in Izzi land.

Umahi assured that all the ongoing projects of his administration would be completed before the end of this year, 2021.

He said: “We will become a reference point when it comes to Development when it comes to building and we shall do it. We are going to complete all our on-going projects including the airport and let me inform you that the King David University of Medical Sciences will take off by September this year”

“I love education so much that we established the King David Medical College. The EBSU Faculty of Engineering which I started will be located in Izzi (Council Area) and it is now a University of Technology and it will be completed before I leave office”.

On social welfare, he reiterated that: “From 2022, there will be massive empowerment of our people. We will complete all ongoing projects this year. When people criticize us, we reply to them with more projects.

“My administration would launch a full-blown empowerment for Ebonyi Women and Youths in May to give citizens a new lease of life.

The governor enjoined youths to revaluate themselves to be able to make informed contributions to societal development.
