Gov Obiano Tasks Church Leaders, Others To Observe COVID -19 Protocols

Governor Willie Obiano has called on Church leaders and Managers of public places to insist on adherence to COVID-19 protocols, especially wearing of protective face masks within their facilities.

Governor Obiano was speaking when he identified with the family of the Late Chief Patrick Ndubueze Onyechukwugoziri Adimike who died at the age of eighty-seven.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the burial Mass took place at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Awka-Etiti in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The Mass presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, attracted College of Bishops, religious, Senator Victor Umeh, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Professor Pat Utomi, among others.

According to the Governor who said that COVID-19 virus is still potent and potentially kill their victims, pointed out that the Country is at the community transmission stage.

Governor Obiano further reminded Ndi Anambra that many people coming home to celebrate Christmas will come from outside the state where the cases are still very high, expressing hope that the impending second wave will pass.

He described Reverend Father George as a family friend, saying that their late father lived a good life and urged them to continue to live a life of unity instituted by their father In a homily Reverend Father Benjamin Ogbunuko who said that death and judgement await all men, urged Christians to prepare by showing love, saying that it is time for thanksgiving to God.
He consoled the family and asked them to tenaciously hold onto the peace and unity within the family.

Speaking on behalf of the family his son, Reverend Father George Adimike extolled the life of their late patriarch and asked God to rest his soul while pledged to uphold the virtues of their late father.

Governor Obiano also consoled the Ekwegbalu family over the death of their son, the late Azubuike Ekwegbalu, aged forty-three, who was allegedly murdered at midnight of ninth August, 2020, inside his residence in Awka.
Before his death, late Azubuike Ekwegbalu was a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano.

The Governor’s wife, Dr Ebelechukwu, Senator Victor Umeh, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, members of the State Executive council, accompanied the Governor to the condolence visit to Azubuike’s country home in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.
