The Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Oyo, Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, has urged Nigerians and all leaders in positions of authority to emulate the sacrifice of Christ.

Badejo gave the advice in his Good Friday message in Ibadan while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as Christians celebrate the Good Friday.

Badejo called on the people in positions of leadership, especially Christians, to emulate Jesus in his love, humility, service and generosity.

The Catholic Bishop urged Nigerians to always emulate the spirit of forgiveness demonstrated by Jesus Christ and live in peace, harmony with one another.

“These are the only solution to our world’s problems,” he adds.

Badejo also remarked that Good Friday should call for sober reflection and repentance for all and sundry.

“On Good Friday, Jesus laid it all down on the cross, He gave up His life, mother and forgiveness for us.

“He died for all, His sacrifice obtained for us the immeasurable gift of resurrection and salvation, so that we can repay such goodness!

“I pray for all, that our pain, sacrifice and stress be greatly rewarded with grace and eternal life.

“Jesus’ blood will never lose its power over us (Isaiah 53:5),” he said.

NAN reports that Good Friday is the day Christians annually celebrate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. (NAN)
