Golf & Tour Group applauds Bina Foundation for empowering people with special needs

Bina Foundation, a Non governmental organisation(NGO) based at Thinkers’ Corner axis of Enugu metropolis,has received accolades from members of ‘Golf and Tour Group Nigeria,for inspiring and training people with special needs to acquire skills that will enable them fend for themselves in the society.

The group who were in Enugu for the 8th Golf and Tour kitty held at Enugu Sports Club made the commendation when they took a facility to Bina Foundation premises.

The Golfers toured the Computer training section,the braille literacy class, Medical team section, Bead-making,
Cosmetology (Soap making) and Tailoring departments,among others and were entertained by Bina Foundation musical life band played by both blind instrumentalists.

Speaking thereafter the facility tour, the leader of the team, Golfer C.E.Aroriode said in their tour to various cities in Nigeria, they have not come across any Non governmental Organisation such as Bina Foundation with sophisticated equipment and facilities for training and empowering people with special needs.

He extolled the Chairman,Board of Trustees of the NGO, Sir Chris Atuegwu and the Founder/President of the foundation,Pharmacist Lady Ifeoma Atuegwu, for rendering such magnitude of humanitarian services to the down throdden in the society.

He assured that the Golf and Tour Group Nigeria will support the organisation as much as it could, to sustain the good works it is doing for people with special needs.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman,Board of Trustees,Bina Foundation,Sir Chris Atuegwu, disclosed that the foundation has sustained it’s ultimate goal of helping the needy to acquire skill freely from the various programmes provided by the organisation for more than a decade.

He expressed gratitude to the Golfers for coming to see for themselves what the NGO founded and funded solely by his family has been doing to leverage people with special needs,so they can be reintegrated and fend for themselves in the society.

Corroborating, the President of Bina Foundation,Lady Ifeoma Atuegwu disclosed that Bina Foundation goes extra miles of providing logistics to people to start off their own business after training them freely in the skill acquisition programnes.

She stated,”Since establishment,Bina Foundatio. has been committed to empowering individuals with disabities to live dignified,purposeful lives. Through various programmes and initiatives, we have witnessed the transformative power of education, skills training and economic empowerment in enabling individuals to overcome barriers and achieve self reliance”.

“One of our significant achievements has been the establishment of our resource and recreational center, a place of refuge and empowernment for individuals from diverse backgrounds. Here,vulnerable individuals including women,men,girls,persons with disabilities and widows find support and opportunities for growth. Through blind football,other paralympic sports, vocational and skills development programmes,we empower individuals to unlock their potentials and pursue brighter futures”,Lady Atuegwu stated.

It is on record that both Nigeria Male and Female blind football teams that played in the African Blind football tournament, held in Enugu in 2019 were produced,trained and sponsored by Bina Foundation.
