Girl wey Sabi campaign trains 30 girls on gender violence in Lagos

The girl wey Sabi campaign project has trained thirty (30) school girls from Asoland Schools Lagos, on the dangers of gender based violence.

The training and sensitization took place on 11th October, 2020 in commemoration of the International day of the girl child.

www.odogwublog.com reports that Blessing Belonwu, the facilitator and project lead of the Program- The Girl Wey Sabi campaign project described the theme of the IDGC 2020, “My voice , our Equal future” as apt.

Belonwu said that through the theme, they were able to sensitize and encourage girls on the importance of living free from Gender based violence, and the need to shun Female Genital mutilation.

She said the school girls were also sensitized on skill necessary for their future and the need to lead a generation of activists accelerating social change in the society.

Contributing, Mabel Obadoni , a growth strategist, and the pioneer of talk2her foundation challenged the school girls to speak up against injustices in the society particularly against female children for a change to occur . She spoke also on the theme of this year’s IDGC ” My voice, our Equal future”.

Sanitary pads were distributed to all the girls present at the event of the program as the girls expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Girl wey Sabi campaign project.

During the course of the program , some phenomenal female activists were invited to speak on various topics revolving around the girl child.
