FRSC Pushes Road Safety Training for Civil Servants and VIP Drivers in Anambra
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, has called for deeper collaboration with the Anambra State Government to train Civil Servants and convoy drivers on road safety, traffic discipline, and proper use of traffic lights.
The call was made during a courtesy visit by the FRSC team, led by the State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asakhauno, to the Office of the Head of Service at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Receiving the team, the Head of Service, Anuli Iwouno, Esq, mni, commended the FRSC for its work in the state and pledged greater collaboration to improve traffic compliance among the state workforce. She urged the Corps to formally outline proposed training modules for Civil Servants for consideration by the state government.
Welcoming the proposed partnership the civil service boss raised concerns over the conduct of some drivers who beat traffic lights.
“I think people should be patient to see the traffic lights change before moving,” Head of Service added.
She, then, pledged more collaboration to improve traffic compliance among the state workforce while reiterating the need for a formal well outlined training module for Civil Servants.
Speaking earlier, the State Sector Commander, FRSC, Corps, Commander Asakhauno said that the Corps seeks to partner with the Head of Service to deliver enlightenment sessions and driver training whenever the state convenes forums for its workforce.
She noted that the training would target Civil Servants, VIP drivers, and convoy drivers, citing the frequent involvement of convoys in road accidents.
The Sector Commander praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support to the FRSC and for improving road infrastructure across the State.
”Anambra enjoys minimal traffic congestion due to good roads, digitalised traffic systems, and functional traffic lights, which is part of good road management that reduces manpower needs”. She said.
