The Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke in Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma popularly called ‘Fr. Ebubemuonso’ and the former President Ohaneze Ndigbo Anambra State chapter, Elder Chris Eluemuno have called on the Federal Government to release the self-styled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) saying that employing dialogue was more result-oriented than the use of force and intimidation in handling agitation or grievances in any civil society.

The call was made recently while addressing newsmen at Uke, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State during the tripartite celebration of Annual Thanksgiving, Ten years of establishing the Holyghost Adoration ministry cum Priestly ordination of the fiery Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebubemuonso).

According to Fr. Obimma, “I have been pleading with Federal Government let there be a dialogue so that there will be peace and progress. Refusal to adhere to divine counsels results in boomerang. The IPOB group are resilient and they are not giving up in their struggle. Most times, peace is not achieved by violence and intimidation. When you coerce your subjects beyond their capacity you get rebellion”.

“I do not see any reason why Nnamdi Kanu should be detained. He should be released or granted bail. Last time he was granted bail, he merely escaped when they wanted to kill him. Since Kanu’s current abduction, repatriation and detention they have refused to bring him to court. That is suppression, wickedness and intimidation. I stand for justice. Let them negotiate Kanu’s release and know the demands of IPOB, the demands may not be Herculean. Remember that dialogue was employed after unnecessary violence when Niger delta militants were blowing up pipelines which arrested their agitation”.

“For instance, last time when IPOB was clamoring no elections. I invited Nnamdi Kanu and after dialoguing with him on the need for election he saw reasons with me. They say Kanu is arrogant and insults but if a priest could advise him and he adhered then he is not obstinate or incorrigible”, said Fr. Obimma.

The Roman Catholic Church cleric who thanked God for choosing him to serve in his vineyard said it has not been without challenges-blackmails, assassination attempts attributed his achievements to the love, mercy and Grace of God.

Similarly, Elder Eluemuno insisted that Nnamdi Kanu should be released to help checkmate the spate of violence and killings perpetrated by unknown gunmen in the South East who were alleged to be aggrieved for the detaintion of the IPOB leader.

“I am shocked at the turn of events in Anambra State known for peace and security. The spate of killings are unfortunate. I appeal to anyone responsible for that to stop”.

“I appeal to the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu. Federal Government should ensure he does not die in detention. Remember that Bokoharam became one of the most dreaded terrorists group when their first leader died in the custody of security agents”.

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, Ebubemuonso, Elder Chris Eluemuno and others during his 10years priesthood anniversary.

“I also advise the proscribed IPOB group or agitators of self-determination to come under another umbrella or nomenclature to enable them negotiate with Federal Government concerning their grievances because legally, Government cannot officially negotiate with a proscribed group”, said Eluemuno.

Eluemuno further stated that calling for ‘no election’ in Anambra State would not be in the interest of indigenes saying that not conducting election will either see the Speaker of the House of Assembly assurring the seat of the governor or the Federal Government imposing a state of emergency with a sole administrator in Anambra.

Moreover, the duo of Anambra House of Assembly, Chief Whip, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu and the Caretaker President General Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Chief Willie Okafor in their separate speeches after describing Fr. Ebubemuonso as a rare gem who has affected thousands of lives positively in his generation called for a stop to the ongoing killings praying for peace in Anambra State and Nigeria.

“It is not criminal not to vote. People must not be forced to do anything against their will but people must not stand in the way of others who want to exercise their franchise”, said Ezeudu.

“Violence does not solve problems. Let there be dialogue. Let us stop killing ourselves, we are one, wether from Anambra or Imo. Let the aggrieved, Government and those assisting government dialogue for a way forward”, said Okafor.
