Foundation solicits for govt, private partnership for free treatment of Back pain

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Back Pain Care Foundation has floated ‘A Save the Back Campaign Programme’ calling on Government at all levels, institutions, politicians, communities and faith based organizations to assist in providing back health care to Nigerians.


The Chief Executive, Omega Physiotherapy &Back pain care Clinics, Dr. Charles Ehirim made the call recently at Onitsha saying that many people who were suffering from back pain challenges and stroke disabilities lack funds or access to professional treatment.

According to the consultant Physiotherapist,”My experience exposure and empathy for people with back pain and stroke challenges led me to establish three  NGOs namely: Omega Physiotherapy Mission International, Stroke disability Care Initiative and Back pain care foundation.

“We organize capacity building workshops, seminars and providing therapeutic recipe to those faced with such ailments. We offer both consultancy and philanthropy services and have what it takes to bring solution to those suffering back pain and stroke.


” Because of the prevalence of back pain and  stroke disability we  established a foundation around 2012 which offers free intervention treatment once a while and also during World Stroke day which comes up every October.


“We are calling on the Government, churches, politicians, philanthropists and organisations who have good intentions for their people to partner with us. It doesn’t require much except accommodation,  feeding and transportation of some equipments to be used by my team”, said Ehirim.

He mentioned sedentary position for a long period of time and sedentary lifestyle as a major cause of back pain saying that the human body was not designed to remain in a particular position or be inactive with little or no exercises.


” Common back pain found in workers whose jobs are entirely sedentary is the largest cause of disability among people of working age and 30 percent of adults become chronic sufferers”, he said.
