Foundation donates bags of rice to widows in Anambra

No fewer than 2,000 widows from Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA on Monday received 50kg bag of rice each from the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF), a philanthropic scheme to reduce the hardship of widows.

The Coordinator of the Foundation, Chief Tony Obi, distributed the food items to the beneficiaries at the Foundation’s warehouse in Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA.

Obi who represented the Founder of SEOF, Dr Emeka Offor, said the gesture was in sustenance of the Foundation’s annual philanthropic activities aimed at alleviating the suffering of the downtrodden.

He said the Foundation was committed to improving the lives of the poor and the less privileged in the society.

He said the thrust of the Foundation’s philanthropic mission include education, health, capacity building and empowerment.

In a goodwill message, Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head, Corporate Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), urged other wealthy indigenes to emulate the gesture.

Mrs Monica Nwabueze, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Foundation for the love and having their interest at heart always.

“Just look at how we are all glowing. It is because Emeka Offor never allowed us to lack anything.

“He gives us food to eat; clothes to wear; and money to do our businesses. May God continue to bless him and his family, amen,” Nwabueze said. (NAN)
