A former Governor of Cross River, Dr Clement Ebri, on Friday in Calabar donated 407 academic and research textbooks to the University of Calabar (UNICAL).

The former governor, who was represented by Mr Joe Odey, said that the gesture was informed by the fact that the university needed books to foster their academic programmes.

According to him, for a university to function optimally, there is a need for it to be properly equipped with academic books and other essentials for research purposes and in the area of advancing information in the course of learning.

Receiving the books on behalf of the university, the Vice-Chancellor,  Prof. Florence Obi,  commended the former governor for his benevolence to the growth of the university.
