Former Anambra lawmaker donates table tennis board to Onitsha inmates

In his determined effort to uplift sporting activities in the State,, Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo (Liver To Deliver), immediate past member representing Onitsha North 2 constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Awka and House of Representatives Candidate of APGA for Onitsha North/Onitsha South Federal Constituency, had donated sporting activities that included table tennis board, jerseys, food items, among others to Onitsha Correctional Center.

Recalled that in his eight years as representative he ensured that the inmates were well catered for, to ensure relaxation within the facility and competition annually organised in his honour.

In the build up to the celebration of 70th birthday of Archbishop Valerian Okeke, Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, sporting activities had been lined up and Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo has been a major pillar of support over the years especially during festivities of Easter and Christmas/New Year.

The event last Sunday had football match and table tennis competition from the inmates.

Welcoming Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo (Liver To Deliver) who was ably represented by Hon Chuka Ofokansi, Hon Okey Ekezie, aide to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Hon Uchechukwu Aniebue, the Chaplain of Onitsha Correctional Center, and Rev Fr Bartholomew Okpalaugo, noted that immense contributions of Hon Ibuzo to the correctional facility remained unrivaled over the years.

Also Very Rev Fr Emmanuel Onunkwo who represented Archbishop Valerian Okeke, prayed for the inmates and received the touch to signify the commencement of sporting activities for the birthday celebration.

The Deputy Controller in charge of Onitsha Correctional Center, Micheal Benson Anugwa noted that as lawmaker representing Onitsha North 2 State Constituency, which houses the Correctional Center, Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo had supported the facility with sports jersey, table tennis board, food items, toiletries, among others annually throughout his stay as lawmaker for the Constituency.

Other dignitaries present included, High Chief Okey Ndukaku (Born to Excel) one of the sponsors of the football competition, Hon Patrick Okafor, member representing Onitsha North 2 State Constituency Anambra State House of Assembly Awka, Hon Ezenwa, member representing Onitsha South 1 State House of Assembly, among others.
