The Enugu State Chairman of the selection committee for the 774,000 National Directorate of Employment (NDE) of Federal Government-guaranteed jobs, Gbazueagu Nweke says employed youth and traders are not qualified to benefit from the exercise.

He stated this in Enugu on Monday during inauguration of 85 members of Enugu state local government supervising, monitoring committee.

He said only unskilled and semi skilled Youths and unemployed graduates are qualified to benefit from the scheme.

According to him, the exercise is part of fulfillment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign promise to uplift the standard of living of many jobless Nigerian youths.

He said the programme would not have come at a better period than now when the adverse effects of COVID-19 pandemic has triggered economic hardship among people all over the world.

He explained that the exercise excludes Nigerian youths who are already engaged in any form of trade or government business as well as civil servants.

He cautioned them not to to apply because such category of Nigerians will be automatically disqualified by the Central bank of Nigeria during the final stage of the selection process.

The 85 member supervising/monitoring committee comprised of five members each, from the 17 local government areas of the state.

He said ,”This programme provides opportunity for our unskilled, semi-skilled and graduate youths who are jobless. It is not for our fathers and mothers or those who are already engaged. Those who will be selected will eventually go to banks to open an account. They will be paid directly from Central bank of Nigeria. Those who are not qualified but selected by any member of the committee will be disqualified by the Central! bank at the final stage’..
