FACULTY OF EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAMME: A FUSION OF TOWN AND GOWN – PROF. OGBUAGU

The Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences UNIZIK, Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu has described the Faculty outreach and award giving ceremony of the Faculty of Education held on Tuesday, 23rd November 2021 as process of taking the gown to town and bridging the gap between the public and the University.

Prof. Ogbuagu in his capacity as the Chairman of the occasion made this known in a chat with the media. The Professor of Industrial and Analytical Chemistry stated that the move is the right step in the right direction in line with the vision of ‘Project 200’ of the institution under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, FPSN, the scholar also stated that the Faculty of Physical Sciences under his watch has been able to get a volunteer to build a central laboratory that will aid teaching and research. Prof. Ogbuagu commended the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu for her dogged spirit, innovation and creativity.

Also speaking the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Associate Prof. Loyce Onyali stated that funding of the University is not necessarily the sole responsibility of the government but a collective effort of all who desire for the betterment of the society by supporting education. Onyali disclosed that the Faculty of Education had to think outside the box on how to enhance the visibility of the Faculty which necessitated the outreach and award giving ceremony.

Onyali eulogized the Dean, Faculty of Education for the creative spark and innovation describing her as a goal getter and Digital Dean. Highpoints of the occasion was the award presentations to lovers of education, University’s Benefactors, Captains of industries and public spirited individuals.
