Mayor Emeka Orji the democratic elected executive chairman of Onitsha
South LGA Anambra State has pledges an integrated development of the council area under his tenure.
Giving this assurance to newsmen during a chance meeting in his office at Onitsha South Secretariat recently, Mayor Orji told newsmen that in his commitment to achieve the objectives that he has already commenced the construction of General Hospital at a location where Urban boys secondary school fegge was located and relocated the school to Ugbo-Orimiri Primary School Premises.
Saying that he is desirous to emulate the state Governor Professor Charles Soludo who he said had already lifted the Anambra State Development Index higher above all his Predecessors in Office, he stated that one of his priorities is to put up a machinery to prevent fire and other emergencies disasters in the council area explaining that to achieve this he intends to establish four strategic fire stations in the strategic areas of the council, namely at, Fegge, Ochanja, Head bridge Odoakpu areas.
Going further, Mayor Orji said, “Under my tenure I have a plan to explore water transportation to enable the people of the Local Government to utilize abundant opportunities offered by numerous rivers in the council area,. To achieve this I intend to invest in water transportation by building Jetties that will operate form various rivers in Onitsha to Anambra North, east, west and Ogbaru to Ndoni, Portharcourt in River State.
