Erosion control – Hope rises for Oji-Achi-Awgu-Aninri fed. road

Hope of reconstructing the damaged portion of Oji River to Achi to Awgu federal road linking Aninri local government areas is now on the increase as the federal lawmaker representing the constituency,Hon Engr.Chijioke Okereke,has facilitated the commencement of repairs by Setraco construction company, on the failed portions of the road.
In the past two months, a deep gully dug by erosion threatened to caught the tarmac between Achi and Oji River town,with adverse effect of limiting vehicular movement to and fro Aninri to Awgu and Oji River local government areas.
A number of rural dwellers in these various communities raised alarm that their economic and commercial activities are in decline since the major link road, has becoming not motorable.
Hon Okereke heard the cry of his constituency and saw it as his responsibility to search for immediate solution.
He noted that pushing bills and motions on the floor of the National assembly implies waiting for inclusion of the repairs in the 2024 budget.To that extent, the road damage would have turned into disaster.
Hon Okereke disclosed he equally drew the attention of Federal Road Maintenance Agency(FERMA) but at the long run the much needed quick intervention came from Setraco.
He stated,” I am pleased to announce substantial advancements in the remedial efforts undertaken by Setraco on the Achi-Awgu road
“Following the swift mobilization to the site as scheduled significant progress has been achieved in containing erosion, ensuring immediate relief to the affected area.
“Setraco promptly mobilized to the site, demonstrating remarkable efficiency in their response to the environmental crisis.
Through concerted efforts, the erosion has been effectively contained, mitigating further damage to the road and nearby surroundings.
“I commend Setraco’s dedication and the collaborative spirit exhibited by all stakeholders involved.
The proactive measures taken have already yielded positive outcomes, emphasizing the commitment to timely and effective resolution”,he stated.
