The Provost, Enugu State College of Education Technical, Dr Osondu Eze, says the institution is challenged by the dearth of specialised personnel, especially in the technical section.

Eze said this on Friday, when the state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, visited the college.
He said that shortage of manpower was affecting the teaching of practicals in the institution.

He said that machines meant for practical demonstrations had been dormant because there were no qualified personnel to operate them.
The provost expressed profound gratitude to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for its supports to the college.
”Some of the machines I am talking about were acquired through TETFUND.
“We need to use them to enhance teaching and learning activities,” he said.

In a remark, the committee Chairman, Mr James Akadu, said they came to evaluate the situation in the institution since the past three months.
Akadu said that the committee would report its findings to the house and ensure that adequate legislative steps were taken to restore the lost glory of the college.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee was conducted round the college for an on-the-spot assessment of existing facilities during the visit. (NAN)
