ENUGU POLICE TOWN HALL: CP GIWA ENGAGES SECURITY STAKEHOLDERS AND RESIDENTS IN UDENU AREA COMMAND

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, mspsp, today, 12th May 2026, held a Town Hall meeting with security stakeholders and residents within the Command’s Udenu Area Command. The engagement, held at the Udenu Local Government Secretariat, is in continuation of the CP’s people-friendly policing approach and in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on community-based, inclusive, and trust-building policing.

The interactive session provided participants the opportunity to raise concerns on police conduct and prevailing security challenges, while jointly exploring practical measures to strengthen security, public safety, intelligence sharing, trust, and community-police collaboration across the area.

Participants at the meeting included representatives of religious and traditional institutions, town unions, community leaders, youth and women groups, transport unions, sister security agencies, forest guards, neighbourhood watch groups, business owners, and other critical stakeholders from Igbo-Etiti, Igbo-Eze North, Isi-Uzo, and Udenu Local Government Areas under the Area Command. The Executive Chairman of Udenu LGA, Mr. Aka Eze Aka, attended the meeting, while other Chairmen were represented.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through professionalism, proactive policing, and prompt response to credible security information. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons, activities, and movements within their communities.

Stakeholders commended the Commissioner for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration with the Police and other security agencies in enhancing peace, security, and development across their communities. In response, CP Giwa emphasized that effective policing is only achievable through public trust, cooperation, and active community participation.
