The Enugu State Commissioner for Works, Mr Greg Nnaji, says the government has commenced  remedial work on dilapidated roads in different parts of the state.

Nnaji said this on Monday during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of Etudo/Awkunanew Street, Achara Layout in Enugu South Local Government Area.
He said the work was in keeping with Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi directive to the ministry to start procurement for road reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The commissioner said that the remedial work would be extended to other adjoining streets in the area.
“This road is being rehabilitated in keeping with the governor’s directive and commitment to the wellbeing of residents of the state,” Nnaji said.

Also, the Special Adviser on Information to the Governor, Mr Steve Oruruo, said the project was vital and touched on the socioeconomic lives of the ordinary people in the area.

Oruruo described the work as “the latest in the series of interventions by the state government”, saying that more of such projects would still be delivered. (NAN)
