#EndSARS Protests: Normalcy Gradually Returns To Awka, Anambra State

Life is gradually returning to normal in Awka and environs after days of unrest in parts of the country.

ABS Correspondent Jane Joshua monitored situation of things in Awka and reports that areas visited included Nkwo Amaenyi and Eke-Awka markets, where residents of the state were seen going about their businesses.

Speaking on the situation , a youth who identified himself as Mr. Ekene said that though the initial aim of the protest was good , the recent acts of destroying property have cast Shadows over credibility of the exercise

On his part, a trader, Mr. Chukwukwado Okafor, who condemned what he described as the irrational acts of some hoodlums in disguise of EndSARS protesters, said that looting and burning of property will not give solution to the course they are fighting for and will not bring peace and change to the nation.

Meanwhile, in line with the charge by Governor Obiano on cleaning up of the State, officials of the Anambra state Ministry of Environment and the Anambra State Waste Management Authority as well as the OCHA Brigade were seen clearing debris left by the protesting youths.

The Managing Director of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Engineer Douglas Okafor, said that Anambra State Government has always been passionate about the plights of Ndi Anambra, and described the looting and destruction of government property as a threat to a peaceful and democratic Nigerian society.
