Chief Victor Umeh, Labour Party (LP) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, stormed the secretariat of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders’ Association (ASMATA) to canvass for votes.

Umeh, while addressing the traders on Wednesday in Onitsha, said that he would do things for the betterment of his people through people oriented legislation.

According to him, I will do things for the betterment of my people and not for myself. Those contesting with me do not know what the Senate is all about.

“That is why I urge for your votes to enable me to be there. National Assembly is not for jamboree, it is for serious business,’’ he said.

Speaking on the swap of the new naira notes, he lamented that new money was not in circulation yet, adding that there was no money to buy even food stuffs.

“I believe that the election is coming next week, maybe it is because of the election they want to freeze the cash flow.

“There must be a way to release money that will be sufficient for people to have their daily needs.

In his response, the ASMATA President General, Mr Humphrey Anuna, thanked Umeh and promised him that traders would support him in the forthcoming general elections. (NAN)
