EFCC Witness: CBN Followed Due Process in Vehicle Procurement

An EFCC witness, Salawu Gana, testified in court that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) adhered to procurement guidelines in awarding vehicle contracts. He stated that the selection process involved three major companies, with April 1616 emerging as the lowest bidder and receiving approval from the CBN Tenders Board. Gana affirmed that former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele was not a board member and did not interfere in the process. He also noted that no procurement officers had been prosecuted and found no evidence linking Emefiele to April 1616. Meanwhile, Emefiele’s counsel sought to block additional EFCC witnesses, a move opposed by the prosecution. The court has set March 20 for a ruling on the matter.
