Ebonyi Building Collapse: No casualties recorded – Police

The Police Command in Ebonyi, on Wednesday confirmed a building collapse in the state, saying that no lives were lost in the incident.

The Police spokesman, SP Chris Anyanwu, made the confirmation in Abakaliki in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 7.

Anyanwu, who described the incident as “unfortunate”, explained that the building collapse occurred along the Ngbabor, Presco campus of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.

“Yes, our team has visited the scene, it was a 5-storey building under construction in the area and no casualties were recorded.

“Right now, police are investigating the incident. We thank God, no lives were lost. The owner of the building is yet to be identified.

“We urge those into construction business to be mindful of materials they use for building.

“Avoid the use of sub-standand products. A building starts from the foundation, they should always study the soil before the foundation,” he advised. (NAN)
