The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has said that the party has always encouraged women to contest elections in the state.

Okoro-Emegha said this on Thursday in Abakaliki while addressing newsmen, adding that the party recognised the need for increased women participation in politics.

“We are expecting women to join the political fray in large numbers because of the incentives the party has offered to them.

“Female senatorial aspirants, for instance, had been offered forms which cost N20 million. This gives them some measure of advantage over men,” he said.

He said the party was taking necessary steps to ensure a free and fair ad hoc election and primaries in the state.
