Driver docked for allegedly stealing customer’s parcel worth N6m

A Young Shall Grow Transport Company driver, Abass Sikiru, who allegedly stole customer’s parcel worth N6 million, on Friday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Sikiru, 50, who resides at No. 15, Okeowo St., Bariga, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that defendant committed the offences in January at The Young Shall Grow Transport Company, Ojuelegba Station, Lagos.

Ekhueorohan said that the defendant stole a table tennis board, eight plasma television, remote controls, a sound electronic wolver and eight split unit air conditioners he was to deliver to the complainant, Anebi Ocholofu.

He said that the defendant was arrested after the complainant reported the case to the police.

Ekhueorohan said that the offences  contravened sections 287, 329 (1) (a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides two years for conspiracy.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Sadiq Bello, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum

Bello said the sureties must be gainfully employed and adjourned the case until March 10, for mention. (NAN)
