DIRECTORATE OF IGBO VILLAGE AND IVACAC SET TO HOLD IRI JI UNIZIK FESTIVAL

The Directorate of Igbo Village and Centre for African Civilization (IVACAC), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in partnership with the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Anambra State is set to hold the IRI JI UNIZIK FESTIVAL.

The cultural event aimed at exhibiting the rich heritage and traditional values of ‘Ndi Igbo’ by way of appreciating God for a successful planting season will hold on Thursday, 23rd September 2021 by 10am at the frontage of the Faculty of Art building and will feature Ije noba ji, Igosi Ohaneze ji, Igo oji na ofo ji as well as attempt to showcase other historical development and perspectives associated with ‘Ndi Igbo’ in celebration of a good planting season.

According to the Host, Director of the Igbo Village, IVACAC and a member of the 9th Governing Council of the University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonachristus Umeogu, the IRI JI UNIZIK FESTIVAL will be chaired by Prof. Joseph Bryan Adinma. The Royal Fathers of the Day are HRM Igwe Ralph Ekpe, Eze Enugwu-Ukwu and Umunri; HRM Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Eze Uzu Awka Kingdom; HRM Igwe Innocent Obodoakor, Igwe III of Agulu and HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III of Obosi Kingdom.

The Special Guest of Honour is High Chief Dr. Obiora Okonkwo; Chief Host is UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, FPSN; Co-Host is Hon. Kenneth Anierobi, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism; Chief Guest of Honour is the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano while the Mother of the day is HRM Obi Dr. Martha Dunkwu.
