In an interactive session with UNIZIK Fm Correspondent, Chioma Mbah, a 100 level student of mass communication, UNIZIK, Senator James Chidera Wisdom said that Nigerians are the cause of their culture going into extinction. He noted that the cultural domination of their culture by the Westerners has become a predominant trait which keeps their culture low.

He stated that the country has been so much dominated by the culture of the whites & in the aspect of technology, most Western countries produce and use their media softwares unlike in Nigeria where basically all they use are imported.

On her part, Chinaza Joy Osigwe said that Language is the bloodstream of culture. She mentioned that it is disheartening on how parents in recent times neither teach nor communicate with their children using their mother tongue.

She opined that every culture is unique & Nigerians should change their mentality towards their culture especially in the aspect of dressing & the Government should pass a bill for all schools to teach students their mother tongue.

Also, Ada Euodia Nweze, a student of mass communication department mentioned that no society can exist without culture. She maintained that it is an aspect of human behavior that is transmitted to members of a society, involving language, belief, arts, moral, law, custom, tradition, dress code and the rest.

Nweze said that the youths have embraced the culture of the Westerners which has made their views of certain things to be clouded by the western lifestyle. She noted that most of the youths of this generation lack respect. She therefore suggested that laws should be made to curb certain immoral acts of the citizens.
