Destroying campaign billboards: APGA calls for arrest of perpetrators

Prof. Benard Odoh, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi, has called for the arrest of those destroying the political party’s campaign billboards in the state.

Odoh stated this in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Charles Otu, to newsmen in Abakaliki on Wednesday.

The candidate said that fishing out the perpetrators would help to discourage any political war in the state and country at large as political parties prepare for campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We in the Odoh/Nkata Governorship Consultation train once again condemn these heinous attacks on our campaign materials.

“It is becoming glaring that despite several warnings against destructions of campaign materials; some candidates for the 2023 general elections seem to be more prepared for war than discussing the numerous issues plaguing our dear state.

“We once again beckon on the various security agencies to investigate these attacks on our campaign billboards just like we await the outcome of their findings on the ones destroyed penultimate week in Abakaliki metropolis.

“We have not yet been informed of any arrests made so far despite our petitions to the various security agencies.

“We, therefore, call on all our supporters and members to remain strong, firm and unshaken in their belief in the candidate of APGA’s determination to bring a breath of fresh air into our polity.

“He will also transform our beloved Ebonyi State into one which everyone will be proud of.’’

He stated that the journey would not be an easy one as it had never been easy to bring a political revolution upon a land.

“But we remain unfazed and we will continue to speak to issues.

“We will also remain civil and polite in all our engagements before, during and after the 2023 general elections in which we are certain that the electorate will give us their esteemed support,” Odoh stated.

The candidate urged the newly-elected council chairmen in the state and their supporters to play politics according to the rules. (NAN)
