Department of Academic Services Dunukofia Local Government Education Authority Organizes Quiz Competition Under Integrity Club

The Department of Guidance and Counseling, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State has organized a Primary School Quiz Competition as Part of its academic and developmental support activity for Pupils in the area.

Venue of the competition was Unity Primary School, Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA.

Speaking on the event which took place on Thursday, February 26, the Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Celestina Oranye represented by the Guidance and Counselling Officer, Ozalla Primary School, Ifitedunu, Mr. Solomon Nwankwo said, “the competition was aimed at promoting academic excellence, building self-confidence, and encouraging healthy intellectual interactions among Pupils.

“The objectives of the competition is to promote academic excellence among Pupils, encourage healthy competition and teamwork, improve pupils confidence and public speaking skills.

“It is also to identify academically gifted pupils for further encouragement and support and to support the overall developmental goals of the Guidance and Counseling Department”.

The competition which pulled together not fewer than 22 schools in Dunukofia LGA involved basically pupils in basic four class who were screened and presented for the competition based on their academic performances and the teachers’ recommendations.

According to Mrs. Oranye, the Supervising Desk Officer, Njikoka Local Government Education Authority under the Department of Guidance and Counseling served as the coordinator and judge for the programme.

“The Competition was conducted in different rounds, which included, English language, Social behavior and Spelling. Each pupil was given equal opportunity to answer questions and points were awarded for the correct answers and no negative marking was applied.

“The competition was successful and well-coordinated as pupils displayed enthusiasm, confidence and impressive academic knowledge and it was observed from the outcome that such activities greatly enhanced the pupils learning abilities and self-esteem”.

Winners emerged at the end of the competitions thus, Ozalla Primary School Ifitedunu took the 1st Position through their representative named Iheohakara Sophia, Community Primary School Ifitedunu took the 2nd Position with Udoba Peter representing it and Community Primary School Nawgu took the 3rd position with Okoye Ekpereamaka representing the school.

All Participants were commended for their efforts and encouraged to continue striving in the pursuit of their educational tasks for excellence and perfection.

The Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Oranye thanked everyone at the end of the programme especially the teachers for their efforts in preparing the children for the competition.
