Cultism: Police arrest 59 members of Vikings, Nnabor Confraternity

The Cross River State Command f the Nigerian Police Forcesays 55 persons suspected to be members of the Vikings and Nnabor Confraternityhave been arrested.

The Commissioner of Police in the state who disclosed thisat the State Police Headquarters, Diamond Hill said 55 of the suspects belongedto Nnabor Confraternity and comprised 46 males and five females while four ofthe suspects belong to the Vikings Confraternity.

He said some of the items recovered from the suspectedmembers of the Nnabor Confraternity include two Hiace Buses, two motorcycles,three human skulls five machetes and three red flags with human skull drown onthem and were on their way to Akwa Ibom State.

“On 16th August 2020 at about 2300 hrs, there wasa distress call that hoodlums were beating and damaging people’s property alongMurtala Mohammed Highway and a team of operatives from anti-cultism/kidnapping squadswiftly responded and arrested four persons who confessed to be members ofVikings Confraternity.

“On the 17th August 2020, at about 1555 hrs 51 suspectswere arrested on their way to Akwa Ibom State and they were sighted onprocession flying their regalia in town and the police swiftly arrested them.

“During interrogation, all admitted being members of a Cult Groupcalled Nnanor Confraternity and the command is making frantic effort to uncovertheir mission, sponsors and conduct forensic/DNA test on the received humanskulls”, the police boss said.

He said the suspects will be charged to court promptly and warnedall heads of secret cult groups operating in the state to have a change ofpositive mental attitude as the commandw not hesitate to deal with them no matter their connections.

He assured members of the pubic that in line with StandardOperations Procedure (SOP) all tacticalteams and Divisional Police Officershave been directed to provide visibility policing in the state using IntelligenceCommunity policing template.
