Covid-19: Soludo donates #10M to Anambra State

The appeal by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state to Ndi Anambra and friends of Anambra state to support the efforts of the state government in preventing the spread of coronavirus in the state, through the donation of cash and medical supplies is yielding positive results as more Ndi Anambra are responding to the appeal.

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and member of the Economic Advisory Council to President Muhammed Buhari, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has donated the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10M) to Anambra state government to support its efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Professor Soludo also pledged that he will mobilize his friends locally and internationally to donate needed medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as facial masks, protective clothes for care givers etc.

The Secretary to Anambra state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu thanked Professor Soludo for his kind gesture, according to him, “Now is the time for Ndi Anambra to close ranks and support the state government’s efforts as we collectively fight this unseen enemy. On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano who is also the Chairman of Anambra State COVID-19 Action Committee, I thank Professor Soludo, ezigbo onye Anambra for the donation and his pledge to support the state government’s COVID-19 efforts in other areas”.

Continuing, Professor Chukwulobelu said; “We thank all those that have donated money and medical supplies so far. We are appealing for more donations. Although there is no case of coronavirus in Anambra state yet, as a responsible government, we are not leaving anything to chance. We have intensified our efforts by setting up protection centres at Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha. The state government has also set up and fully equipped a 250- bed surge centre at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu. This is in addition to the pledges by Fidelity Bank and Access Bank to equip 60- bed surge centres at Ekwulobia and Umueri within a week”.
