..As Assassinated Obosi PG is buried amidst tears

Palpable tension pervaded the burial ceremony of Chief Engr. Ikechukwu Okolo, President-General of Obosi town union was assassinated by yet-to-be-identified persons at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on January 2, this year.

The traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka Eze Obosi III had shortly after Okolo’s assassination, disclosed that the identities of notorious cultists in the community who assassinated him were not unknown.

Igwe Iweka who disclosed his palace stated that it was the same notorious cultists that assassinated Okolo in cold blood on January 2, which created tension in the area for upward of two days, lamenting that the activities of the cultists have become too inexplicable that the law-abiding citizens of Obosi no longer sleep with their two eyes closed, to the extent that they kill and maim people almost on daily basis.
However during the Late Engr. Okolo’s burial at Ire Village, Obosi the Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Ifeanyi Okoma after eulogizing the achievements of the deceased towards fighting cultism, crime and criminality in the Obosi community advised youths against such vices that lead to untimely death.

“I plead that cultism should stop. Let us stop killing ourselves. Ife Obosi was my brother who died in the service of his motherland. Let his death not be in vain. Let peace reign in Obosi community”, said Okoma.

Also, Chief Emeka Ezego Nwolisa(Otabilionye Awkaetiti) decried that activities of cultism and killings in any community scare investors away and draw the community backwards.

The trio of Sir Chudi Onwuachu, Sir Timothy Nwabunwanne and Dame Dr. Vivian Onwuekwe(MmiliakuOgidi) of Obosi Chapter of knights in their separate speeches after urging youths to shun cultism and bloodshed extolled the giant strides of their late colleague asking God to give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the huge loss.

Moreso, the leader of Obosi Youth Council, OYC, Tochukwu Obienu(Mbaaburodike) prayed that henceforth, no leader of Obosi would die on seat again as Okolo did and such violent crimes will not continue

According to Obienu, Obosi youths are invoking the gods of the land to deal ruthlessly with all the evil spirits and evil persons who have been propagating the spirits of deaths in Obosi land.

“We Obosi indigenes have been able to discover the remote cause of the bloodshed in the land and have decided that it comes to an end,” said Obienu.

Mr Obi Mozie observed that the reason why youths take to crime include their insatiable quest to get rich quick without hardwork.” PG was my cousin. Some youths are ready to kill if you stand on their way for quick money. Youths should embrace hardwork and integrity, Nigeria is a land of opportunities.”

Other Dignitaries present to commiserate with the Okolo’s family include Zonal Commander Ocha Brigade Anambra Central, Daniel Obiefuna, PG Nkpor, Chief Innocent Mbagha, Chairman NAPPMED Awada unit, Evang. Francis Nwokike, Chairman Progressive Association Onitsha/Owerri road, Mr. Chinedu Uzo, they all described Late Okolo as a man of peace who embarked on many developmental projects but died in the course of sanitizing his community of bad eggs.”

Okolo’s first son, Chukwudi noted that his father’s death, though very painful, has brought fame and honour to the family in particular, and Obosi in general, adding that it was because his late father was not willing to compromise his integrity that the assassins went after him.
