CMD tasks health workers on Covid -19 precautionary measures

As the nation continues to record increase in Covid -19 cases, Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital(COOUTH) Awka, Dr Basil Nwankwo,has charged health professionals to sustain safety measures already adopted to prevent the spread of the virus in health facilities.


He added that there was need for strict compliance with covid -19 response protocols especially in hospitals where health professionals function as first responders to patients.


The CMD stated this while receiving various covid -19 response hygiene materials from the National Association of Pharmaceutical Technologists and Pharmacy Technicians of Nigeria(NAPPTON),Anambra State Chapter.


He further described the donation by the association as timely especially at this critical period of global health emergency occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Nwankwo who was represented by the Acting Head of Department(HOD)Pharmacy, Pharm Gloria Nwosu,appreciated the professional body for the gesture and assured that the materials would be deployed into proper use.


Earlier, the State Chairperson of the Association, Comrade Patricia Maduabum, said they considered it proper to donate the materials to the hospital to assist both the health workers and patients in observing covid -19 protocols.


She stated that the gesture was in line with the call for joint effort by all stakeholders, governments,corporate bodies to offer assistance in the fight against the dreaded virus.
