Ozigbo foundation declares Janka Armani Ogene Africa winner of COVID-19 music contest , splashes cash on others
It gives me great pleasure and pride to announce the Ogene groups who have won my foundation’s COVID-19 Ogene Message Competition.
I thank all the Ogene groups in Nigeria who took part in this contest. You have all shown the innate beauty of expression in this unique Igbo culture.
The COVID-19 pandemic provided all of us with a rare opportunity to send messages of unity and love to our people. My intention for starting this contest was to inspire creativity in our musicians and entertainers, celebrate this special Igbo music and culture, and also provide a platform for expression and exposure for Ogene groups.
It is my pleasure to announce that Janka Armani Ogene Africa is the Winner of the COVID-19 Ogene Music Contest. The group takes home the Cash Prize of N100,000 and becomes the Official Ogene Partner of the Chineto Ozigbo Foundation.
The 2nd Place Winner is Ogene Uzodimma. They go home with N75,000. While the 3rd Place Winner is Ogene Praise with Father Onyeka which goes home with N50,000.
The 4th to 10th place winners go home with N20,000.
I wish to thank our panel of distinguished judges – Professor Kenneth Kalu, Chief Tony Offiah, Mr. Odyke Nzewi, and Mr. Izu Oraelosi – who painstakingly reviewed and assessed all the entries for this competition at short notice.
My thanks also go to the leaders, staff, and volunteers of Chineto Ozigbo Foundation who are working on the ground to make the difference where it counts.
