China blasts UK over ex-Hong Kong officer’s spying conviction
China has condemned the UK’s conviction of former Hong Kong police officer Chung Biu Yuen for spying on dissidents, calling the ruling politically motivated.
Yuen and former UK Border Force official Peter Wai were found guilty in London of assisting a foreign intelligence service through operations targeting Hong Kong activists in Britain.
Beijing accused London of abusing the legal process and warned it would take measures to protect its interests.
