Catholic Bishop, Ezeokafor Welcomes Courage Of Anglican Clergy, Ven Ikezue To Seek Elective Position

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has welcomed the courage of an Anglican Clergy, Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue for declaring his intention to contest the Anambra Central Senatorial seat, describing the move as a bold step in service to society.
Bishop Ezeokafor, who made the remarks when the Anambra Central senatorial hopeful paid him a courtesy visit in his office to intimate him of his intention to contest the senatorial seat.
He observed that the cleric’s foray into politics underscores the growing need for credible, compassionate, and God-fearing individuals in leadership. He stressed that such qualities are indispensable for good governance and societal progress, and offered prayers for divine wisdom and guidance for Ven. Ikezue as he pursues his aspiration.
Responding, Ven. Ikezue who is serving in the Diocese of Gwagwalada appreciated the Bishop for his fatherly support and prayers, describing his entry into politics as a response to the yearnings of the people for purposeful and people-oriented leadership. He noted that his aspiration is anchored on service, equity, and the desire to restore dignity and development across communities in Anambra Central.
Ven. Ikezue further assured that if given the mandate, he would prioritize legislation that promotes social justice, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, and inclusive governance. He also called on stakeholders, party faithful, and constituents to support his vision for a better and more prosperous Anambra Central.
He reiterated his commitment to upholding integrity and transparency in public office, stressing that leadership should be seen as a platform for service rather than personal gain.
Meanwhile, Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue has officially picked up the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the Labour Party National Headquarters to contest for the Senate seat representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.
Speaking with journalists, he described his ambition as a RESCUE MISSION focused on giving Anambra Central a strong, credible, and people-oriented voice at the National Assembly.
He assured Ndi Anambra that his legislative agenda will prioritize quality representation, youth empowerment, economic growth, security, and laws that will improve the lives of the people.
“This is not just about politics; it is about standing for the people, defending their interests, and bringing purposeful representation to Anambra Central,” he stated.
