Car dealer in court for allegedly stealing vehicle exhaust catalysts

A 42- year-old car dealer, Afolabi Ogunnaike, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 12 vehicles’ exhaust catalysts. 

The defendant, who resides at No. 23, Oladipupo Banjo St., Oke Ira, Ogba, Lagos State, is facing charges of conspiracy, stealing and  breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Christopher John, told the court that the car dealer committed the offences sometime in May at Oke Ira, Ogba.

The prosecutor said that the complainant, Mr Adeniyi Adegbemi, had told the defendant and one other person at large to receive the vehicles from Apapa, Lagos State, on his behalf.

John alleged that the defendant and his  accomplice conspired and removed the vehicles’ exhaust catalysts, in contravention of Sections 168, 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Ogunjobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum  of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunjobi adjourned the case until Aug. 8 for mention. (NAN)
