Breaking: Heavily armed men kidnap Nasarawa APC Chairman

Residents of Kurikyo road in Lafia ,at about 11 pm night of Saturday, were perplexed at the continuous rendition of gun shots sounds that lasted for over an hour .

Palpably our reporter gathered that the gun shots was triggered by some unknown gun men ,who stormed the resident of the All Progressive Congress (APC) state chairman, Mr Philip Shekwo.

The Nasarawa state police command in a swift and prompt response,engaged the date devil men of the underworld in a gun fire,in attempt to rescue the situation.

However, the Police Commissioner in the state Mr. Bola Longe has confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our Correspondent in Lafia,he said unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC Chairman in Lafia around 11 O’clock in the evening, last night and took him away to an unknown destination.

Mr Bola Longe stated that security agencies had reacted swiftly by deploying personnel to different forest locations in the state to ensure safe release of the APC chairman, Mr Philip Shekwo from his abductors

As at filing this report, no contact between the kidnappers or any member of the abducted chairman’s family had been made.

According to the police spokesman, ASP Nansel Ramhan,the CP has directed personnel’s of the Nasarawa state police command to trail the kidnappers.

The Authority recalled that the Nasarawa state commissioner of Police ,Bola Longe had enjoined officers and men to be professional while fighting crime

The Commissioner of Police, also charged officers and men of the Police Command to be proactive, engage in vigorous crime fighting, but more professional in their coverage and patrols of vulnerable and perceived black spots across the state.

CP Bola Longe said this in a statement that was made available to newsmen in Lafia after one of their weekly briefing with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Head of departments under his supervision.

He added, we must remember that when ember months come, days and weeks seemed merged in a continuous flow at an ever accelerated speed and so do crimes and criminality flow with it thus, strategic deployments have been made to thwart the criminals from executing their enterprise, all the entry and exit routes into the state have been fortified, while undercover Police personnel have also been deployed and directed to use the instrumentality of Community Policing to sniff for information to enable the Command nip crime in the bud.
