Christian faithful who are either tossed about or are wallowing in the mires of fake and deceitful repentance have been encouraged to rather shore up and play the biblical Prodigal son with full and genuine repentance in order for them to appropriate the complete grace of God.

Giving the admonition in a 15 – minute homily he said today, Wednesday, July 20, 2022, during the weekly church worship at the Calvary Chapel, Bishop’s Court, GRA, Onitsha, the Bishop on the Niger, the Rt Rev. Dr Owen Nwokolo, emphasized the need for what he called full repentance and its accompanying ingredients.

According to the bishop, the biblical Prodigal son realised the importance of ingredients of repentance and diligently applied them to his advantage.

In the sermon he tagged, “Ingredients of full repentance”, Bishop Nwokolo explained that the prodigal son added all necessary ingredients of full repentance among which he said comprised the hearing of the word of God and its immediate application.

“The word of God”, he said, “must first come before repentance. The turnaround may not be immediate, but the word must come first before you come to repentance”, adding that after hearing came convinction.

“Convinction follows hearing the word, especially when you hear it and have it retained, then comes the time of decision making”, saying that decision leads to turning around.

He said, “Like the prodigal son, when he came to himself, he made an effective decision. So When you hear and allow the word of God to convince you, you should take a decision and make a u-turn.

“You must confess and make determined decision to turn around

after which you are expected to join the fellowship of brethren”, Bishop Nwokolo further advised believers.
